WHAT IF I TOLD YOU I WAS YOUR SUPERMAN?
While working on my movie, DONOVAN, I also had the opportunity to write and record some songs to play in a few scenes…you know, the background music. The songs turned out so good, I went on to make music videos for two of them, “Osámstíga” and “Superman” to use as promotional pieces to the movie.
My style of music is dark and moody, not everyone’s cup of tea and I get that, but here’s to hoping you dig them….
Osámstíga – I wanna be bold, I wanna be beautiful, I wanna be you. (lyrics on YouTube page)
This was the first video I did. I wanted to create something combining clips from the movie, the feeling of being at a concert, and the build into the complete chaos in which the song resolves. It’s dangerous and intense…it’s bold…some may say it’s beautiful.
Superman – What if I told you, I was your Superman? (lyrics on YouTube page)
For this video, I wanted to pay a bit of an homage to the late Sinead O’Connor and her video for “Nothing Compares 2 U.” This song is a personification of the manic side calling out to its victim in a depression and offering them false promises of hope. I’d like to think she would have related to the song and then poked fun at my bald head imitating the video that made her infamous.
Fifty – Here’s a funny one that needs a set-up instead of a recap. A buddy of mine was turning 50 and I wanted to do something special, yet campy/corny for him. He’s a huge fan of Peter Gabriel, so I thought it would be fun to spoof the song “Big Time” as “Fifty” and make an entire video out of it. I opened it with a heartfelt “happy birthday” message, but won’t bore you with that…let’s get straight into the song. Enjoy!
